‘Yeh Toh Trailer Hai, Picture Abhi Baaki Hai’: Maharashtra Leaders React To India’s Operation Sindoor On Pakistan’s Terror Camps | File
Mumbai: After the terrible terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 26 innocent people were killed, India took strong action. In a late-night mission on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, called Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy worked together to attack nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoJK). These camps were linked to terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
This bold step by the Indian forces brought many reactions from Maharashtra’s top political leaders.
CM Devendra Fadnavis: Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) with the words, “Jai Hind, Jai Bharat Mata Ki” along with a picture supporting Operation Sindoor. He stood strongly with the Indian Army.
Eknath Shinde: The Deputy Chief Minister, praised the operation. He said this is not just a small reply, it’s only the beginning. “Yeh toh trailer hai, picture abhi baaki hai,” he said, meaning bigger actions could still come. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Armed Forces for showing strength and sending a strong message to Pakistan and the world. He also said this operation gave justice to the families of those who were killed.
Sanjay Raut: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut also supported the strike. He said he is proud of the Indian Army. He spoke about the name “Operation Sindoor” and said it’s very emotional because the attack hurt many women, and in Indian culture, “sindoor” is a sign of a married woman’s pride. He said the operation was a fitting answer to those who tried to hurt India.
Raj Thackeray: A founding chairperson of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), had a different opinion. He criticised the government. He asked why the terror attack in Pahalgam was not stopped in the first place. He said there was not enough security, and questions must be asked about that. He also questioned the need for air strikes and said real action should be taken on the drug problem, which is growing in the country. “If drugs are being sold, where are they coming from?” he asked.
Thackeray also said that mock drills and events after the attack were not helpful. He said real change should come from ground action, not just military shows.
The Mahayuti alliance, including Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis, fully supported Operation Sindoor and praised PM Modi and the armed forces. Shiv Sena (UBT) also supported the army and said the operation’s name carries deep emotion.
Sharad Pawar: Speaking to reporters in Pune, he addressed the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that has caused anxiety among the people of India. He stated that innocent individuals were killed by terrorists, emphasising that no country can remain a mere spectator in such situations. While responding to these terrorist attacks, it was necessary to take steps cautiously. All these strikes have taken place on the terrorist camps in POK which are supported by Pakistan. “After these air strikes, a message has been sent in the world that India is aggressive,” he added, according to PTI report.
Supriya Sule: Supriya Sule, Leader of the Maha Vikas Aghadi said It was not a retaliation, nor is it an escalation. This was a response to terrorists. The country comes first. We thank and salute the Indian Army for its bravery and commitment in defending our nation.
Chandrakant Patil: The Indian security forces took full revenge for the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. As many as nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were destroyed in missile strikes. These include the camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The Indian security forces made Operation Sindoor a success by risking their lives. We are rightly proud of the Indian security forces. As an ordinary Indian citizens, we stand firmly behind every action of the Modi government in terms of giving a befitting reply to terrorism.
This decision was taken after much deliberation, after interacting with important countries of the world and convincing India of its just cause. Congratulations to the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modiji for taking a decision that shows the strength and determination of India to the world.
Aditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader, mentioned in an X post “Terrorism in all its forms has to be eliminated. Tonight’s precision strikes in PoK are against terrorism, and kudos to the Indian defence forces for keeping it precise to sites where terrorism was being harboured. Hit them, hard enough that terrorism doesn’t stand a chance ever again, Jai Hind.”
