To enhance the state’s education system, the Maharashtra government will send 50 education officers, principals, and teachers on an international study tour to Singapore. This initiative is part of a larger plan to send a total of 150 individuals on domestic and international study tours. The goal is to explore global best practices in education and evaluate their feasibility for implementation within the state.
Upon completion of the study tour, participants will be required to submit a detailed report on their experiences and learnings. Furthermore, the knowledge and skills acquired during the visit will be disseminated through training sessions for other officers and educators to ensure wider implementation across Maharashtra’s educational institutions.
The study tour aims to provide Maharashtra’s education leaders with firsthand insights into internationally recognised educational programmes, policies, and teaching methodologies. The delegation will examine various initiatives in Singapore’s education sector, including innovative curriculum design, teacher training frameworks, and technology-integrated learning systems. The knowledge gained will help in adapting and integrating best practices into Maharashtra’s school education framework.
According to an official from the education department, “The aim of the initiative is to expose our educators to global best practices, making them better equipped to implement innovative teaching methodologies and improve learning outcomes across the state.”
Under the STAR project (Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States), the state has approved a budget of Rs 2 lakh per person, amounting to a total of Rs 300 lakh for 150 individuals participating in various domestic and international study tours. As part of this initiative, the first batch of 50 educational professionals will embark on a study tour to Singapore from 22 to 27 March.
The entire cost of the tour, including travel, accommodation, and institutional visits, will be borne under by the government. Additionally, the Maharashtra Primary Education Council, Mumbai, has been directed to ensure that all participating officers and educators are covered under a medical insurance policy. Precautionary measures, including health screenings for contagious diseases like COVID-19, will be in place to safeguard participants.
The government’s decision reflects its commitment to enhancing the quality of education by adopting global best practices. By facilitating this exchange of knowledge, Maharashtra aims to improve teaching methodologies, school administration, and overall learning outcomes, aligning the state’s education system with international standards.
