The Maharashtra government has launched phase two of its ‘Jivant 7/12’ campaign to clean up outdated entries in land records statewide. A government resolution has been issued to implement this initiative statewide.

Under the campaign, obsolete entries like unpaid loan remarks, relief loan notations, bonding burdens, mortgage claims, moneylender debts, land acquisition decisions, non-agricultural orders, substandard land references, and outdated records of female heirs will be eliminated and will be replaced with accurate, real-time entries reflecting current ownership and land use. Updated 7/12 extracts will now include information related to inheritance, land ownership, tenancy categories and public lands like cremation grounds, ensuring better clarity and transparency in land records.

Talathis (village-level revenue officers) have been directed to record the necessary changes and remove obsolete burdens and remarks. The process will be carried out through dedicated camps at the taluka and mandal levels. District Collectors and Sub-Divisional Officers have been assigned supervisory roles and will be responsible for submitting regular reports.
