In a bid to foster patriotism and national pride among students, the state government on Tuesday issued a resolution outlining special activities for the celebration of Republic Day on 26 January in Maharashtra schools.

This initiative, announced by the Department of School Education and Sports, will be implemented in all government and private schools across the state.

According to the government resolution (GR), a range of activities will be held in schools starting from Republic Day 2025.

Following the flag hoisting ceremony, students will be required to recite the national anthem, state anthem, and the preamble of the Indian Constitution. Additionally, a morning parade will be organised on the school premises.

Schools are also supposed to hold speech competitions for students on topics such as patriotism, democracy, and freedom fighters.

Furthermore, a variety of other competitions will take place, including dance performances based on patriotic songs, poetry recitals featuring either original or famous patriotic works, and art contests centred around patriotic themes. Essay writing contests related to the freedom struggle and patriotism will also be organised.

In addition to these competitions, schools have been asked to organise a series of games for students to participate in. An exhibition showcasing student-made crafts, artwork, and other creative work will also be organised by the schools.

The Chief Commissioner of Education will oversee the implementation of these activities, ensuring compliance in both government and private schools. Education officers and inspectors will monitor the activities to ensure proper execution.
