Maharashtra government has given very good news to the passengers. The construction work of 701 km long Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway has been completed. This expressway is likely to be inaugurated next month in February. It has been named ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samriddhi Mahamarg’.
Before this, the 625 km long section between Nagpur to Igatpuri in Nashik is already operational. Now after the inauguration, travel from Mumbai to Nagpur will become more accessible. With the help of this expressway, the travel time between the two cities will reduce from 16 hours to only 8 hours.
Expressway has been partially operated
The Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway was partially opened to traffic in December 2022 and March 2023. Now the construction of the last section has also been completed. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had appointed Anil Kumar Baliram Gaikwad as the chief engineer to oversee this project. Gaikwad currently serves as the Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
This project is considered one of the dream projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With its launch, a big change is expected in the social and economic development of Maharashtra.
Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will also be operational soon
On the other hand, the Central Government is working rapidly on traffic improvement projects related to Delhi. Delhi MPs have proposed four projects to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, aimed at reducing traffic jams and pollution.
The construction work of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is almost complete and it will be commissioned soon. Similarly, there are plans to open the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway for traffic soon. With the help of this expressway, the travel time from Delhi to Mumbai will reduce from 36 hours to 12 hours.
Apart from this, a proposal for underground tunnel from Shiv Murti to Nelson Mandela Marg has also been submitted. With the construction of this tunnel, the travel time from IGI Airport to Delhi can be reduced by 7-8 minutes.
Through these projects, important steps are being taken towards further strengthening the road network in India.
