Maharashtra Government To Host Event Celebrating Shramaraj Kavi Narayan Surve’s Birth Anniversary | X (@airnews_mumbai)
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government, through its Directorate of Cultural Affairs, will organise a series of events based on the literary works of Shramaraj Kavi Narayan Surve during his birth centenary year, which will commence in October 2026.
These programmes will highlight and celebrate labour literature, announced cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar on Thursday in Prabhadevi, at the third anniversary of ‘Marathi Athav Divas’ at the Surve Sahitya Sammelan at Ravindra Natya Mandir. Shelar also declared that starting next year, cash prize of Rs 50,000 will be awarded in his personal capacity to a distinguished literary figure in the field of labour literature.
This award will be presented annually during the Narayan Surve Sahitya Sammelan. The Surve Sahitya Sammelan, presided over by veteran theatre artist Pramod Pawar, honoured long-time supporters of ‘Marathi Athav Divas’, including Bhau Korgaonkar, Dr Mahesh Keluskar, and Ashok Naigaonkar, for their unwavering support.
Also, budding writers such as Pradeep Awate, Yogita Rajkar, Madhukar Matondkar, Sunil Ubale, Sujata Raut, and Safar Ali Isaf were felicitated with the ‘Jahirnama Award’.
