Earlier in the day, CM Fadnavis participated in a inter-state collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh government, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed for the implementation of the Tapti Basin Mega Recharge Project. The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Fadnavis in the state capital, Bhopal.
Speaking on the importance of the agreement, CM Yadav said, “Today a new chapter begins with Maharashtra. The Prime Minister has introduced a new approach where two states are connected through river-based projects, serving the national interest. Ninety percent of the funding will be provided by the central government. I thank PM Modi for his vision.”
As per official details, the Tapti Basin project aims to provide permanent irrigation facilities to 1,23,082 hectares in Madhya Pradesh and 2,34,706 hectares in Maharashtra. The regions to benefit in MP include four tehsils—Burhanpur, Nepanagar, Khaknar, and Khalwa—across Burhanpur and Khandwa districts.
