Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off the trial run of Phase 1 of Mumbai Metro Line 9, connecting Kashigaon to Dahisar East, on Wednesday. The inauguration marks a significant milestone in the development of Mumbai’s metro infrastructure, aimed at enhancing connectivity between the suburbs and easing traffic congestion.
In an official post shared on X (formerly Twitter), CM Fadnavis expressed his delight over the commencement of the technical trial. “It is a matter of great pleasure that the technical test of Metro Route-9, Phase-1, Kashigaon to Dahisar (East) has started today. After its successful test, this facility will be open to the general public very soon. With this metro line, commuters from Mumbai and Thane will enjoy seamless connectivity,” he stated.

Metro Line 9 is an extension of the Red Line (Line 7), designed to improve north-south connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Once fully operational, it will provide a crucial link for residents of Mira-Bhayandar and surrounding areas, significantly cutting travel time and offering a comfortable alternative to road transport.
The trial run is a critical step toward making the route operational and reflects the state government’s commitment to modernising urban transportation. The launch of this trial run marks a significant advancement in Mumbai’s journey toward a faster and more efficient public transit system.
