The danger of bird flu has once again been looming in Maharashtra. The news is coming that more than 6,000 chickens have died in a poultry farm. Bird flu has also been confirmed in the investigation report on this incident. As soon as the information of bird flu was received, the administration has immediately issued a high alert.

 

The risk of bird flu is increasing once again in Maharashtra. The administration has become alert after the mysterious death of 6,831 chickens in a poultry farm in Kherda (Jirapur) village of Karanja taluka. The investigation report on 27 February confirmed that the deaths were caused by bird flu infection. After this, the district administration immediately issued a high alert.

The process of death of chickens continued in the poultry farm between 20 and 25 February. Samples of dead chickens were sent to the laboratory at Akola for testing. After this, a detailed investigation was also conducted at the National High Security Animal Disease Institute in Pune and the laboratory at Bhopal. The H5N1 virus (bird flu) was confirmed in the report on 27 February.

The campaign to sanitize the affected area has been intensified after the report of bird flu surfaced. The administration is busy removing the remaining chickens. The movement and sale of chickens from poultry farms has been banned. Special committees have been formed under the supervision of the Tehsildar in each taluka. Orders are being issued to the Collector and District Disaster Management Authority to implement preventive measures against the spread of bird flu.
