Mahakumbh 2025: Years ago the churning of the ocean took place in search of nectar. The nectar was found but there was a fierce battle over it between the two parties who worked hard to get it. On one side there were gods and on the other side there were demons. This was the first time that two people with different cultures and ideas came together for a greater goal. They reached their goal but could not achieve it. What is the reason for that? Because the aim was to get the nectar and only I had the right on it, stubbornness and greed did not allow it to belong to anyone. There was a competition to get it and in this tussle the nectar spilled out of the nectar pot several times and fell at different places.

What is Mahakumbh?

The main thing is that the search for nectar continues even today. It is the search for nectar that brings Indian people together. In front of the flowing water of sacred rivers, everyone’s individual identity gets erased and they become just human beings. Then, dipping waist-deep in the Ganga, a single voice suddenly rises up from the living clay effigy: Har Har Gange, Jai Ganga Maiya. The ghat of Ganga becomes the place where the ocean of the world is churned and from this churning the nectar of the feeling of unity is obtained. The plan under which this entire process takes place is called Mahakumbh.

Mahakumbh organized in Prayagraj

Mahakumbh-2025 is being organized this time in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Organizing the Kumbh Mela is an ancient tradition, which is organized at four major pilgrimage sites in India. The question is how the date of such a huge crowd, such a huge gathering and such a confluence of spirituality and faith was decided. Also how to know at which place Kumbh is going to be held? Who is taking all these decisions?

The answer to these questions is astronomy. Where will Kumbh be held? This decision is made on the basis of astronomy, astrology and religious beliefs. Kumbh Mela is organized at four places.

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh)

Haridwar (Uttarakhand)

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh)

Nashik (Maharashtra)

How is location determined?

The position of the planets Sun, Moon and Jupiter plays an important role in determining the location of the Kumbh Mela. When the Sun and Moon are in Capricorn and Jupiter in Taurus, the Kumbh Mela is held in Prayagraj. On the other hand, the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar is organized when the Sun is in Aries and Jupiter is in Aquarius. Along with this, when the Sun is in Leo and Jupiter is also in Leo, then the Kumbh Mela is organized in Ujjain. Finally, the Kumbh Mela is held in Nashik when the Sun is in Leo and Jupiter is in Leo or Cancer.

Kumbh is organized at every place at an interval of 12 years.

Kumbh Mela is organized every 12 years. Kumbh Mela is organized at every place once in 12 years. Apart from this, Ardh Kumbh Mela is organized in Haridwar and Prayagraj at an interval of 6 years. Kumbh Mela is related to the story of churning of the ocean. It is believed that a few drops of nectar from the Amrit Kalash fell on these four places, thereby making these places sacred.

This system is not only important from religious and spiritual point of view, but also enriches Indian culture, tradition and history. The reason for organizing the Kumbh Mela at an interval of 12 years is related to astronomical calculations and Hindu astrology. Its main basis is the position of Sun, Moon and Jupiter. When Jupiter enters Aries or Leo and the position of the Sun and Moon form a special yoga, the Kumbh Mela is organized.
