Mahakumbh 2025: The Mahakumbh Mela held in Prayagraj was not only successful in terms of the number of devotees, but is also on the way to set a new record in terms of earnings. Uttar Pradesh’s economy is expected to get a big boost with the arrival of more than 66 crore devotees in Mahakumbh. Experts believe that the income from Mahakumbh can be more than Rs 2 lakh crore. When Mahakumbh starts in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, it is estimated that 45 crore devotees will arrive here for bathing. But by the end of Mahakumbh, the figure crossed Rs 66 crore.
The state is estimated to get revenue of about Rs 2 lakh crore from Mahakumbh. The economy of the state is expected to get a lot of boost due to the food, housing and travel expenditure on the food, housing and travel of the devotees. Anuj Aggarwal, a member of the CII Council, says that all the people coming to Kumbh went to Banaras and Ayodhya. 50 to 60 thousand crore rupees would have been spent on living in tent city and use of private vehicles etc. It is not known whether it traded 1 trillion dollars, but certainly a major opportunity has developed.
Hotels and restaurant owners have an important role in income from Mahakumbh. The Hotel Association estimates that the business of hotel operators during Mahakumbh stood at around Rs 2,000 crore. Sarvesh Goyal, a member of the UP Hotel Association, says that there was a turnover of Rs 4 lakh crore during the Mahakumbh. If even one percent of the people had stayed in hotels, the business of hotels would have been worth thousands of crores of rupees.
Apart from Prayagraj, places like Ayodhya, Varanasi and Chitrakoot also benefited from organizing Mahakumbh. Mukesh Meshram, Secretary, UP Tourism Department, said that people coming to Ayodhya, Kashi, Naimisharanya and Prayagraj have also benefited financially. People visiting these places used to make Lucknow their center. Lucknow also got the benefit of this. All dhabas, guest houses and hotels were filled on the route leading to Prayag. So diesel and petrol sales increased. Many new boats were purchased. Two -wheelers and guides were also used.
There was no decrease in the crowd of devotees from the beginning of Mahakumbh to the end. Mahakumbh, held in the 144th year of Mahayoga, has played an important role in accelerating the pace of economic development of the state.
