We all know that the ancestors of the Pandavas and the Kauravas, Pandu and Dhritarashtra, were born from a Niyog. From this point of view, Maharishi Vyas was also his father and in this sequence, Vidur was also born from Vyasa. Do you know that he had some other son other than Vyas ji? How was he born? What did he become after birth? Why was his birth too unusual?
Maharishi Ved Vyas himself was born to Parashar and Satyavati. Ved Vyas was raised by the sage Parashar. He himself became Maharishi. After this, Satyavati was married to King Shantanu and had two sons named Vichitravirya and Chitrangad. Chitrangada died in his youth. After that Vichitravirya was married to Ambika and Ambalika. But Vichitravirya also died after marriage.
Vyas was invited to the tour.
Now the problem was how to carry forward the dynasty, because both the queens had no children. Then Satyavati decided to follow the Niyog tradition to get children from both her daughters -in -law. For this, he called his son Maharishi Vyas.
He was the biological father of all three.
This led to the birth of Pandu and Dhritarashtra. But when Ambalika was forced to go to Ved Vyas again, she sent her maid to her due to fear, which led to the birth of Vidur. Thus Vyas was the biological father of these three.
Vyas was married to Vatika.
Apart from these three, did Vyas have any other biological son? Although Vyasa was a sage, he was married to Vatika, also known as Aruni. Both of them had a son named Shukdev. However, the story of Shukdev’s birth is also strange.
Who was Vyas’s second son?
Vatika was the daughter of sage Jabli. She herself was spiritually very intelligent and advanced woman. It is said in the scriptures that Shukdev was an unborn son. He stayed in his mother’s womb for 12 years. According to mythology, Lord Shiva was narrating the immortal story to Parvati, then suddenly a parrot (Shuk) shouted. Shiva left his trident to kill the parrot. Shukdev then ran to save his life and entered the womb of Ved Vyasa’s wife. He stayed there for 12 years. Then he was born with the word of Lord Krishna. As soon as he was born, Shukdev went to the forest for penance in childhood.
What a great sage was Shuk?
Shukdev himself was a wise sage. He is considered to be the real spiritual successor of Ved Vyas. He is also mentioned in the Mahabharata as a wise guide of young Kuru princes.
