Mahabharata is one of the oldest texts in India. The war of Mahabharata took place between the Kauravas and the Pandavas in Kurukshetra, Haryana. The war in Kurukshetra lasted for 18 days. The kings of different states joined the favor of the Pandavas or the Kauravas as per their wish. Now the question arises that how was food arrangements made for so many soldiers? Because after the war, the number of soldiers was decreasing every day, how was it kept in mind that food should not be wasted during that time and food should be available to everyone?
Udupi king’s decision
It was a major war between the Pandavas and the Kauravas, in which hundreds of kings from both sides participated. But the king of Udupi did not favor anyone. Instead, he took responsibility for providing food to the soldiers of both sides. This war was fought according to religion and after each war, soldiers of both sides used to sit together and eat.
Amazing knowledge of the king of Udupi
Every day Lord Krishna used to sit near Yudhishthira at the time of meals and the king of Udupi himself served food to him. The most surprising thing was that the king of Udupi used to get equal quantity of food cooked by soldiers every day, never more or less. The Pandavas wondered how they would be able to know how many soldiers will survive every day.
When the Pandavas asked the cooks whether the food ever survives or he lacks it, the cooks told them that the king of Udupi already knows how many soldiers will survive and they cook food accordingly.
King’s secret
When the Pandavas asked the king of Udupi its secret, they told that he used to feed Lord Krishna boiled every day and carefully see how peanuts Krishna eat. With this, he estimated the number of deaths that occur the next day. For example, if Lord Krishna had ate 10 peanuts, 10,000 soldiers would have been killed the next day. As much as Lord Krishna ate, the next morning, the same number of thousands died. The quantity of food was fixed accordingly and was never given very little or too much food.
Krishna’s desire and our illusion
Knowing this, the Pandavas prayed to Lord Krishna and realized that the real war was happening according to the will of Lord Krishna and they were playing only one game.
