Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Akhilesh Meban, the owner of Joy School in Jabalpur, was arrested from Kerala for allegedly making objectionable remarks about Lord Ram on WhatsApp. The arrest came after his location was traced through a mobile phone he used to contact a friend, sources said.

Acting on the mobile location, Jabalpur Police coordinated with Kerala Police and successfully detained Meban. He is now being brought back to Jabalpur by the police team. Meban had stirred controversy after posting a highly offensive WhatsApp status targeting Hindus and Lord Ram. His status read: Bloody Hindu Ram ke bastard children. The post sparked outrage across the city.

According to information, police had received inputs about Meban being in Bandhavgarh. Later, there were reports that he visited his residence late at night and fled to Nagpur. Over a dozen police teams were deployed to trace and arrest him. Several Hindu organisations, saints, and even leaders from the Congress party took to the streets, demanding Meban’s immediate arrest.

Protests erupted across Jabalpur, and memorandums were submitted to the police by various groups. Sources claim Meban had been evading arrest using his influence and resources. However, the police remained on his trail and finally succeeded in tracking him down. The accused will now face legal action upon arrival in Jabalpur. Protests have calmed down following news of his arrest.
