Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 27-year-old youth, Ajay Singh Yadav, has struck luck by finding a gem-quality diamond in the Sarkoha diamond mine area of Panna district. Yadav had been leasing a diamond pit for the past two to three years, hoping to unearth a diamond, but his efforts had yielded no results until now. This is the first diamond deposited at the Panna Diamond Office this year.
Yadav reportedly found the diamond at least three days ago but officially deposited it on Friday. Officials at the Panna Diamond Office confirmed that the diamond weighs 4.01 carats, with an estimated market value of around Rs 10 lakh.
Talking to Free Press, when asked about his future plans with his prized discovery, he stated, “I want to start a business with the money I will receive after selling the diamond.” His father, Santosh Yadav, serves as the Zila Panchayat Vice President in Manor Panchayat, and the family is optimistic about the opportunities this discovery could bring.
The last diamond deposit at the office was on December 27, when a farmer, Ram Naresh Dubey, submitted two off-colour diamonds weighing 0.94 carats and 8.30 carats, which he had found in his field.
