Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A unique and rather surprising case of theft was reported in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone, where a local shopkeeper found an apology letter after he was robbed of Rs 2.46 lakh. The accused thief left a letter apologising the shopkeeper for stealing the huge amount, citing his financial problems.

He expressed grief and guilt in the letter, stating that he was pressured by the creditors to repay the dues. Not only this, the accused even assured to return the stolen money within six months.

The incident was reported on the eve of Ram Navami in Jamindar Mohalla, Khargone.

The robbery took place at the shop of Jujar Bohra. When Bohra opened his shop on Monday morning, he discovered that he has been robbed. He found a typed letter and a large amount of cash missing from the shop.

According to Bohra he had a bag of cash in which he kept Rs 2.83 lakh out of which only 37,000 remained.

Thief was under immense debts

The thief claims to be a resident of the same society and he knew Bohra very well. He wrote the letter with utter humilty and guilt, detailed about his debts and how the creditor’s pressure made him commit this act.

The thief wrote ” I apologize to both you and your son with folded hands. I am stealing on the day of Ram Navami, I did not intend to steal but I am helpless. I will return your money and will accept whatever punishment you decide for me”

Two robberies within a week

Bohra Revealed that this is not the first time he has been targeted for robbery. A week ago on Eid a theft took place at his home when he was at the Mosque along with his family. Almost Rs 85,000 was missing from his home. Shook by two consecutive robberies Bohra highlighted on the emotional toll of these robberies on him and his family.
