Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The athletes of Madhya Pradesh delivered a stellar performance at the Uttarakhand National Games 2025, winning a total of 82 medals, including 34 gold, 25 silver, and 23 bronze. Madhya Pradesh secured fourth place in the overall medal tally.

The grand event was held from January 28 to February 14, 2025, across 11 different locations in Uttarakhand, featuring competitions in 35 sports. Over 10,000 athletes from 33 states participated, with Madhya Pradesh fielding a contingent of 435 members, including 335 athletes and 100 officials.

This marks the second consecutive time that Madhya Pradesh has achieved fourth spot overall. In the medal tally, the Army secured first place, Maharashtra came second, Haryana took third, and Madhya Pradesh finished fourth.

President of the Indian Olympic Association and legendary athlete P T Usha (“Flying Fairy”) presented a trophy to Madhya Pradesh. The Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Olympic Association, Digvijay Singh, received the prestigious trophy on behalf of the state.

For the first time, the Indian Olympic Association has officially recognized and honoured the top three states with a trophy, marking a moment of great pride for Madhya Pradesh. The award serves as recognition of the hard work and dedication of the state’s athletes.

Madhya Pradesh’s Sports Minister, Vishvas Kailash Sarang, congratulated all the medal-winning athletes and wished them a bright future. He praised the athletes’ outstanding performances, emphasizing that Madhya Pradesh’s consistent third-place finish among states is a testament to its emergence as a leading sporting state in India.

He also highlighted that P.T. Usha’s recognition of Madhya Pradesh serves as an official endorsement of the state’s sporting excellence. He extended his congratulations to all athletes, coaches, support staff, and officials.

Top Three Sports that Contributed the Most Medals for Madhya Pradesh:

Malkhamb athletes from Madhya Pradesh dominated the 38th National Games, securing a total of 12 medals (7 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze). The state’s athletes outperformed Maharashtra, winning 7 out of 9 gold medals. For the first time, both the men’s and women’s teams from Madhya Pradesh clinched team championships, while individual all-round champions in both men’s and women’s categories were also from Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh’s Wushu athletes displayed their strength and technical prowess, winning 9 medals (6 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze). Compared to the Goa National Games 2023 (where they won 6 medals), the team showed remarkable improvement.

Madhya Pradesh’s Rowing team also excelled, winning a total of 9 medals (5 gold and 4 bronze). Their performance improved compared to the 2023 Goa National Games, where they won 8 medals (3 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze).
