Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): More than 700 students, teachers from across the country and from the countries of the Gulf Cooperative Council will take part in 31st National Children’s Science Congress to be inaugurated by chief minister Mohan Yadav.

The gulf countries include Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Themed on, Understanding ecosystem for health and well-being, the four-day event will be organised by Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST) Bhopal and National Council of Science and Technology Communication (Department of Science and Technology, Government of India) at Ravindra Bhawan from January 3 to 6.

Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Abhay Karandikar, chief secretary Anurag Jain, IIT Indore director Suhas Joshi will take part in the inaugural function. Besides, Chetan Solanki, IIT Mumbai (solar man), Nand Kumar, AIIMS, Delhi, Arvind Ranade, director, NIF, Vivek Kumar, IIT Delhi, Chaitanya Puri from IISER Pune will participate. Automation of Varahamihir Astronomical Observatory will also be inaugurated. Director general of MPCST Anil Kothari told Free Press on Wednesday that this was the second time that the event was being held in Madhya Pradesh. Earlier, it was held in 2013.
