Before even playing his first game for the Los Angeles Lakers, Luka Doncic stepped up to support those affected by the recent wildfires in Southern California. Through his Luka Doncic Foundation, he announced a $500,000 (₹4.15 crore) donation to assist in immediate recovery efforts for the victims of the devastating fires that began on January 7.

In a heartfelt message shared on X (formerly Twitter), titled “A Note From Luka”, he expressed his sorrow over the destruction caused by the fires.

The note from Luca said, “It’s been so sad to see and learn more about the damage from the wildfires since I landed in LA. I can’t believe it, and I feel for all the kids who lost their homes, schools, and places where they used to play with their friends,”.

He also shared his long-term commitment to helping affected children. “My foundation is donating $500,000 to immediate recovery efforts. I am also committed to helping rebuild courts, playgrounds, and fields that were destroyed because every kid needs a safe place to play. To everyone affected by these fires: we’re here to help, now and for the long haul.”
