Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Not only disposing complaints of mobile thefts and minor cases of cyber fraud, Cyber Help Desks at police stations will now keep a watch on cyber conmen and owners of mule bank accounts under their respective jurisdiction.

Cyber Crime Branch officials said that cops posted at Cyber Help Desks at police stations are being trained on using Joint Cyber Crime Team (JCCT) or Samanvay portal.

The centralised portal is used by cyber cells and cyber cops across the country for sharing information about cyber conmen and suspected mule bank accounts. Cyber Crime branch identifies mule bank accounts opened in Bhopal and issues notices to their owners.

ACP (cybercrime branch) Sujeet Tiwari said that cops at Cyber Help Desks now will also use the portal to identify mule bank account holders in their areas and will issue notices to them.

Moreover, Cyber Help Desks will also keep a strict watch on cyber conmen who have earlier been arrested for fraud but are out on bail. Training sessions are being organised for cops at Cyber Help Desks in this direction, he added.

It is worth mentioning that cyber fraudsters commit fraud in multiple states and even after being arrested they repeat the offence after getting bail.

Due to distance, cops of the concerned state fail to take preventive action against them. With their information made available on the portal, now local cops will keep strict watch on cyber conmen and owners of mule bank accounts.
