LIQUOR SCAM: YSRCP surrounds Naidu government on the arrest of bureaucrats, said- ‘Political revenge action’

News India Live, Digital Desk: Yuvajan Shramik Rayathu Congress Party (YSRCP) has reacted sharply to the arrest of two former senior bureaucrats in alleged alleged alleged alcohol scam and accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of starting a campaign to take political revenge against the previous government officials.

On Friday night, the State Special Investigation Team (SIT) took retired IAS officer Dhananjay Reddy and former Special Work Officer (OSD) Krishna Mohan Reddy into custody after hours of questioning. Both were employed during the YSRCP government led by outgoing YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In a statement, Satyanarayana said that the arrests have been made on the basis of “fabricated evidence” and “no concrete evidence has been given yet.” He described this action as “a dangerous attack on democratic institutions” and warned of its long -term effects on bureaucracy morale and institutional autonomy.

Supporting these claims, YSRCP MLA G Srikanth Reddy commented that the state’s TDP -led NDA government is taking political vengeance to “dangerous levels”. He further said that the current and former IAS and IPS officers are being “disturbed” without any reason.

Former minister Merugu Nagarjuna and other senior YSRCP leaders also supported this view and described the arrests as politically motivated and warned that such action would be a distracted example.

The TDP government kept quiet on these allegations. The SIT has argued that these arrests are just a part of the comprehensive investigation into financial disturbances and bribery regarding the purchase and sale of liquor during the YSRCP rule.

The move is likely to increase political tension in Andhra Pradesh, as the new government has started its tenure with allegations of misuse of investigative agencies.
