Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Ayodhya Nagar police and crime branch seized illicit liquor and marijuana worth several lakhs of rupees in two separate raids on Wednesday.
Three persons were arrested for smuggling liquor and marijuana. Zone 2 DCP Sanjay Agarwal said a team under Ayodhya Nagar TI Mahesh Lilhare raided a spot near Minal multi-storeyed building and arrested a person in car. Police team found 200 quarters of country liquor and 24 bottles of English liquor worth Rs 57,320 in the car, which were also seized.
The arrested accused was identified as Rajesh aka Babu Gurjar of Sehore district. Rajesh’s aide Aman Patel fled from the spot, DCP added. In another development, crime branch team raided a spot in Govidpura and detained two suspects sitting in a car.
Crime branch team searched the car and found two bags lying on the back seat. Cops found 17 packets in the bags, which contained 12 kilograms of marijuana. The marijuana smugglers were identified as Prakash Mahaldar (32) and sanjay Vishwas (48) of Malkangiri tehsil of Odisha. Questioning revealed that the duo had brought marijuana from Odisha to sell it to local dealers. The marijuana is worth Rs 1.20 lakh, police officials said.
