Auraiya, 08 July (Hindustan Times). Thirteen goats died due to lightning on Saturday afternoon amid intermittent rains in Chandpur village of Sahar police station in the district. There two goats got scorched. Fortunately, the lives of the shepherds who had gone to graze the goats were saved.
According to information, Shepherd Brijendra’s son Ram Sevak resident of Chandpur and Hariram’s son Chandanlal resident of Paharpur police station Sahar went towards the fields on Saturday to graze the herd of goats. Meanwhile it was raining intermittently. In the midst of the rain, lightning struck along with thunder and the goats were struck by it. Due to this thunderclap, 13 goats died on the spot while two got scorched. Seeing the thunderclap in the village, the villagers came running and got upset seeing the goats in a dead state. Meanwhile, when the villagers found the shepherds alive, their lives came to life.
On the information of lightning, Deputy District Magistrate Bidhuna Nishant Tiwari, Police Officer Sahar Kalicharan, Sub Inspector Shambhu Dayal, Head Constable Ajay Kumar Yadav, Constables Vivek Kumar Chaudhary, Dilip Kumar reached the spot and investigated.
The SDM said that investigation has revealed that 11 goats of shepherd Brijendra Kumar and two goats of Hariram have died due to lightning. Brijendra’s two goats are also scorched. He informed that financial assistance would be provided to the farmers under the divine calamity.
