14-year-old Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi denies crying in the IPL 2025 match against the Lucknow Super Giants after his dismissal. With Punjab Kings’ players teasing him about it after the match against the Royals on Sunday in Jaipur, the left-handed batter said he wasn’t crying and that the light in his eyes made him blink.

Suryavanshi, who struck a 15-ball 40 against the Punjab Kings on Sunday, began his IPL career with a 20-ball 34 against the Super Giants, including a first-ball six. Having been stumped by Super Giants’ captain Rishabh Pant, the southpaw had to walk back and fans got the perception that he cried after getting out.

In the video uploaded by the Royals on X, Suryavanshi was heard saying:

“Arey Kab roya main yaar. Main batata hoon. Mera aankh bahut dard kar raha tha. Aur main out hote hee maine udhar hee screen ke upar dekha, aankh pe light pada toh aankh aise-aise hua. Main bahar gaya, toh log mere se puch rahe they tu ro kyun raha hai. Arey main roya nahin tha. Main jaa raha tha. Aankh mein woh chala gaya tha.”

(When did I cry? I’ll tell you. My eyes were paining. When I got out and watched the screen, the light came straight into my eyes and they started blinking. When I went out, people were asking me why were you crying. But I was not. I was just walking and the light got into my eyes.)
