Lucknow: In the famous Chandan Gupta murder case of Kasganj, the special court of National Investigation Agency (NIA) has sentenced 28 people to life imprisonment.

NIA Court Special Judge Vivekananda Sharan Tripathi has sentenced 28 accused in the Chandan Gupta murder case to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 8,000 each. On January 2, the court had convicted 28 accused. On January 26, 2018, Chandan was shot dead during the Tiranga Yatra on a motorcycle. According to government lawyers, on the morning of 26 January 2018, Chandan Gupta along with his brother Vivek Gupta and other friends were going on the Tiranga Yatra organized on Republic Day.

When the yatra reached the gate of GGIC on Tehsil Road, some people blocked the road and did not allow the yatra to proceed. When Chandan Gupta protested against this, the crowd started pelting stones and then opened fire. One of the main accused shot Chandan Gupta, injuring him. Chandan’s brother and another friend immediately took him to the district hospital. He died during treatment in the hospital.
