Kalash installation ritual
- First clean the worship room and lay red cloth at the altar or place of worship.
- Then sow barley in an earthen pot.
- Fill the Ganges water in a vessel and add betel nut, durva (grass), whole rice and coins.
- Place a paan/betel nut or mango leaf on the face of the urn and place a coconut over it.
- Now place the urn on a barley vessel.
- Call Goddess Durga and worship her methodically for nine days.
- Devotees should fast for nine days during this period.
- Perform aarti of Goddess Durga every morning and evening.
- Worship girls and make them eat food.
- During this period the worshiper should eat sattvic food and avoid tamasic food.
- Maintain cleanliness at home and do not argue with anyone.
