The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed displeasure over the leaking of information to the media regarding the meeting between coach Gautam Gambhir and the players during the Australia tour and has imposed strict restrictions on the players. According to media reports, the players were not united and were divided into different groups. BCCI on Thursday implemented 10 new strict rules to promote ‘discipline and togetherness’.
These new rules mandate playing domestic cricket, ban the presence of family and personal staff during the tour, and also ban personal advertisements during the series. Along with this, former cricketer Aakash Chopra has suggested that some steps should be taken to ensure that the internal matters of the board and the team are not leaked.
Expressing concern over the issue of leakage of inside information of BCCI, Aakash Chopra said that recently the news of Sitanshu Kotak becoming the Indian batting coach has also been leaked, while the board has not yet announced it officially. He also raised questions as to how this information came out and why BCCI is not announcing it itself.
Chopra said, “Sitanshu Kotak has been associated with the coaching setup for a long time. He has also played against me and has scored many runs. He was a run machine and troubled the opposition team with his unique style.”
