Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The protest against the disposal of Union Carbide’s toxic waste in Pithampur escalated when two men attempted self-immolation at Pithampur on Friday.

Leaders from both the government and the opposition visited Choithram Hospital to meet them and asked the doctors to provide the best possible care to them. Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya visited the hospital, meeting the victims and their families. He assured them of the government’s commitment to their well-being.

Vijayvargiya instructed doctors to provide the best possible treatment, stating, “The Madhya Pradesh government stands with the victim families in this hour of crisis. Every possible help will be provided, and no shortage of any kind will be allowed.” On the other hand, Congress leaders, including Indore city president Surjeet Singh Chaddha and Municipal Corporation leader of opposition Chintu Choukse, also visited the hospital.

They criticised the state government for ignoring public anger over the disposal of toxic waste and urged immediate action.

Chouksesaid, “This self-immolation attempt reflects the depth of public outrage. The government must listen to the people and stop the disposal of toxic waste in Pithampur by approaching the Supreme Court.” Quote  Raju Patel and Rajkumar Raghuvanshi have been injured 10 per cent and 15 per cent respectively.
