Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Free Press and Lions Clubs International Foundation organised a felicitation programme on Sunday for all the 36 Melvin Jones Fellowship programme donors who donated $1000 to Lions Clubs International Foundation. Multiple District Coordinator Lions Sharad Mehta said that the LCIF has given grants of crores of rupees as donations in past 50 years for Lions projects.

The programme was chaired by Multiple District Coordinator Lions Sharad Mehta, chief guests were District Governor Yogendra Runwal and Dr Vinod Bhandari. Special guests Lions Anil Khandelwal, Lions Yash Sharma, Lions Dr Jayprakash Chouhan and Free Press Editor Arshit Gautam were present. The programme was anchored by Sanjay Dingdong. Free Press has always been contributed to development of society. Its painting competition and other such events have also been effective for the society.

What LCIF?

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is a public, non-profit, tax-exempt corporation formed in 1968 as the charitable arm of Lions Clubs International. LCIF promotes human welfare through careful application of contributed funds. Since that time, the foundation has directed the use of millions of US dollars toward medical research, projects for the disabled and disadvantaged, and other endeavours that have benefited humanity around the world. LCIF receives its funds from Lions Club members worldwide interested in supporting humanitarian efforts. These individuals and clubs represent LCIF’s primary contributors. Corporations, foundations, and individuals who are not otherwise associated with Lionism contribute to the foundation as well.

The Overall Purpose of the Foundation

The mission of LCIF is to support the efforts of Lions clubs worldwide through humanitarian service, major disaster relief, and vocational assistance programmes. One way that the mission of LCIF is achieved is through its Standard grant programme. Standard grants are approved for large-scale Lions service projects that meet pressing humanitarian needs. The International Assistance Grant (IAG) program provides funding for humanitarian aid projects featuring Lions in different regions of the world coming together to help the less fortunate and needy. The objective of IAG funding is to improve the quality of life in primary health care, food self-sufficiency, environmental protection, and literacy.
