Aurangabad: Lawyers Protest In Lekhni Bandh Agitation Against Charges On Two Members |
The District Lawyers’ Association staged a Lekhni Bandh agitation to condemn the charges framed against association members Adv Siddhar Kashinath Bansode and Adv Kishor Uttamrao Vaishnav at the Satara police station and to defame them.
On Tuesday, around 1,200 members, including senior counsels, participated in the agitation. A long march was organized from the district court to the police commissionerate in protest. A memorandum was handed over to the commissioner of police by a delegation of the lawyers in this regard. The district court had a deserted look due to the absence of lawyers in the court premises.
Lawyers from the Aurangabad Division bench, as well as lawyers from all district and taluka-level courts, participated in the agitation. A few days ago, to condemn the incident, the lawyers had worked in the courts by putting on red badges.
The lawyers had warned that the Satara police station PI Sangram Tathe should apologize to the concerned lawyers and the case against them should be withdrawn. However, no action was taken in this regard. Therefore, the lawyers initiated the agitation and demanded that Tathe be suspended immediately. CP Praveen Pawar listened to the lawyers and assured them that appropriate action would be taken in the matter after an inquiry.
Adv Milind Patil, secretary Tirthraj Chavare, Sunil Padul, Suvarna Dongaonkar, Karan Gaikwad, Rahul Bhagat, Sandeep Kolhe, Ashish Kolte, Kailas Jadhav, Rahul Jamdade, Mamta Zalte, V D Salunke, and others participated in the agitation.
