An incident of brutal murder came to light from Chaturshringi jurisdiction in Pune where a nephew murdered his uncle over a property dispute with the help of his friends, officials said on Saturday. The incident took place around 6am at Kokate Galli in the Pashan area, they added.

The deceased has been identified as Mahesh Jalindar Tupe (55), while the accused have been identified as Shubham Tupe, Rihan Survansh and Om Nimhan, the police said.

According to the police, for the last few months, a dispute had been ongoing between Mahesh and his nephew Shubham. As per the preliminary information, Shubham had given some money to Mahesh. Later, when Shubham asked for it back, Mahesh did not return it. Moreover, there was also a property dispute between them. Consequently, Shubham planned to murder his uncle with the help of his friends.

On Saturday, Mahesh went to buy milk at the shop as usual. While returning to the house, a heated argument broke out between them. Angered by the dispute, Shubham and his friends attacked Mahesh with sharp iron weapons, causing severe injuries to his head, face, hands, and other parts of the body. Due to severe blood loss, he died on the spot.

Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Senior PI Vijayanand Patil (Chaturshringi Police Station) said, “The incident occurred due to property and financial disputes between them. The complainant and accused resided in the same colony. They have a nephew-uncle relationship. Shubham is pursuing law. He murdered his uncle with the help of his friends, attacked him with sharp iron weapons and fled from the spot. We are investigating the matter, and they will be arrested soon. The investigation is underway, and soon everything will be clear.”

Regarding the matter, a case has been registered at Chaturshringi Police Station under Section 101 (punishment for murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
