Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam has issued an order directing landlords in Pune Rural District to submit details of their tenants to the local police station.

According to the issued order, the owners of houses must provide the tenant’s name, current address, permanent address, two photographs, the name and address of a reference, the rental agreement and identity proof and other required documents.

Kadam added that due to the presence of large industrial zones in the rural district, many workers rent houses in the area without rental agreements and valid documents related to their identity.

To curb criminal activities and incidents, a complete record of tenants with the police is important for solving crime cases quickly.

Due to these precautionary measures, landlords are required to submit all this information to the nearby police station.

If anyone tries to ignore it, legal action will be taken under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the order stated.
