Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A group of villagers created ruckus during measurement of land by the revenue team at Barkheda Salam village under Khajuri Sadak police station on Saturday. The land was purchased by the son-in-law of Special DG (police reforms) Shailesh Singh on which a group of persons have raised objection. Heavy force rushed to the spot and restored order.
In-charge at Khajuri Sadak police station TI Niraj Verma claimed that anomalies in land records caused the dispute. A man sold the land without approval of his brother. The dispute regarding discrepancies in land record is pending with revenue officials, he added.
As per reports, Gagan Gupta, son-in-law of DG Shailesh Singh reached the village with the patwari for measurement of the land he had purchased. However, a group of villagers surrounded the team and those who sold the land and raised slogans. Some women armed with sickles also reached the spot and scuffled with the revenue team and cops. They surrounded the vehicle of DG Shailesh Singh who also reached the spot after receiving information of the scuffle. It is alleged that the issue escalated after the patwari entered into an altercation with villagers.
Heavy force reached the spot when villagers blocked the road and stopped the vehicle of DG Shailesh Singh. The villagers were pacified by police officials. Gagan Gupta said that he purchased the land in 2023 and got it transferred in his name. The revenue officials have issued notice and have asked me to remain present at the time of measurement. However, I have no idea of the dispute between the seller of the land and his family members, he added.
