Morena (Madhya Pradesh): Lakhs of devotees visited Shani temple located on the Enti Mountain on the occasion of Shanischari Amavasya on Saturday. The deity of the temple, Lord Saturn, was worshipped according to religious scriptures.
District collector Ankit Asthana, superintendent of police Sameer Saurabh, chief executive of district Panchayat Kamlesh Kumar Bhargava and other officers also worshiped the lord. The temple was decorated with flowers and lights.
The district administration made elaborate arrangements for the devotees who were provided with drinking water and other facilities. Security around the temple was beefed up.
Saturn is the lord of justice. It is believed that those who follow certain principles in life are blessed by the lord. There were facilities for tonsuring head, taking bath, places for giving away old shoes and clothes. By the time the special worship of the deity began more than 15,000 devotees had reached the temple.
The devotees were from UP, Rajasthan and other parts of the country. It is believed that Lord Saturn was born during Sanischari Amavasya. To get the blessings of the lord, the devotees worship him with mustard oil and donate old clothes and shoes.
The volunteers of scout and guide, officials of the district administration, and social workers were present on the temple premises to help the devotees. CCTV cameras were installed to keep an eye on the anti-social elements.
According to the priests of the temple, after burning Lanka Hanuman threw the idol of Saturn on this part of the country.
