Along with this, he objected to the cuts made by the censor board in the film and said that there should have been no cut in the film. He alleged that if these cuts have been done for political reasons, it is wrong. Chennithla said that even when his government was in power, there were many films that were against the government, but the censorship was not implemented on anyone.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also supported the film and said that ‘Sangh Parivar’ is spreading hatred against the film. He watched the film on Saturday and said that the Sangh Parivar is angry with some scenes, as these scenes shown an important event in the history of the country. The Chief Minister wrote on social media that L2: Emoran Malayalam is taking cinema to new heights, but some people are trying to give it communal color. He said that the actors who criticized the film are threatening and pressurizing the film to censors again.

Describing it a threat to democracy, Chief Minister Vijayan said that it is an attack on freedom of art. He said that in a democratic society, every citizen has the right to speak, make films, see, like or dislike. He also said that the film should be allowed to reach people without any restriction, because it is not against anyone.

The production team of the film has decided to make some changes in view of the controversy. According to reports, 17 scenes of the film will be removed, including riots and violence related scenes against women. Mohanlal also said in a statement that some scenes hurt his audience, so he will be removed from the film.
Success at box office
Despite these disputes, L2: Emoran Has performed brilliantly at the box office. The film grossed over Rs 80 crore in the first weekend after its release on 27 March and became the first film of Malayalam cinema, which touched the figure. The film is making new records due to the tremendous response from the audience. The budget of the film is around Rs 180 crore and it was successful in crossing the Rs 200 crore mark till the fifth day of release. Now it has become the fastest earning of Malayalam cinema to earn 200 crores.
