Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has made it clear that he has no regrets on his ‘traitor’ or ‘traitor’ statement. He told the Mumbai Police that he would apologize only on the issue when the court would order them to do so.

His remarks are believed to be associated with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, after which the ruling party and Shiv Sena workers in the state protested fiercely. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also condemned Kamra’s statement and said that he had insulted Shinde and should apologize.

Kamra rejected allegations

According to sources, Kunal Kamra told the Mumbai Police that he had no regrets on his statement. He also clarified that he did not get money from any political party to target Shinde.

Kamra requested the police to investigate his financial transactions to prove that they did not get any financial help from any political party or opposition.

Mumbai Police filed FIR

The Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against Kunal Kamra for making derogatory remarks against Eknath Shinde.

Apart from this, the police have also registered a case against 40 Shiv Sena workers in ‘Habitat Studios’ in Khar area who allegedly vandalized there.

Shiv Sena activists created a ruckus at the ‘Habitate Comedy Club’ on Sunday, where Kamra’s program was shot. In this show, Kamra used the word ‘traitors’ to sarcast on Shinde.

Kamra’s sarcasm: comment on Eknath Shinde’s rebellion

Kunal Kamra sang a revised version of a song from the film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, referring to Eknath Shinde’s rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray in her show.

In response, Devendra Fadnavis said,

“The 2024 election results have proved who is a traitor and who Khuddar. The public has accepted Eknath Shinde as the successor of the true heritage of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.”

Fadnavis said that people have defeated those who betrayed Bal Thackeray’s ideology in the election.

Fadnavis reversal: Questions raised about constitution

Devendra Fadnavis taunted Kunal Kamra and Rahul Gandhi and said that,

“Kamra showed the red book of the Constitution, which Rahul Gandhi has. But both have not read the constitution.”

He further said that,

“The Constitution says that when you attack the freedom of others, your own freedom is also limited.”

Fadnavis also said that Kamra cannot justify his act by showing the book of the Constitution and cannot avoid legal action.
