A party worker of Shiv Sena reportedly called comedian Kunal Kamra amid the massive uproar over his new video on Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, and threatened him with dire consequences. A purported phone call between Kamra and the party worker has now gone viral.
In the viral audio, the party worker can be heard abusing Kamra and stating that he would meet the same fate as the studio where he recorded his new video on Shinde. “Tu jidhar milega na bh****ke, tera bhi vo he haal hoga,” he can be heard telling Kamra.
He then asked the comedian about his whereabouts, and Kamra, who seemed unfazed by the threats, replied, “Aaja Tamil Nadu, main yahi milunga.” The caller asked the same question once again and Kamra dared him to speak to him after reaching Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, Kamra has been reportedly ‘absconding’ ever since he dropped his new standup set on Shinde online. Shiv Sena workers on Sunday created a ruckus at the office of The Unicontinental Mumbai in Khar where the comedian performed the set. Sena’s Rahool Kanal, along with 19 others, have now been booked for vandalising the Habitat comedy club.
It all began after Kamra mocked Shinde in his recent comedy show and called him a traitor. He also made a song mocking him using the tunes of Dil Toh Pagal Hai. The video received widespread backlash from the Shiv Sainiks, who demanded that the comedian be arrested.
The party has also warned of legal action against the comedian if he fails to apologise.
