Sasural Simar Ka fame Krissann Barretto, a close friend of the late Sushant Singh Rajput, revealed that she faced backlash for speaking about him after his passing. The 33-year-old actress also shared that she was denied work, with several accusing her of talking about Sushant for ‘fame.’ However, she revealed that she ‘lost a lot’ and even ‘risked her career and life’ by speaking about him, but she has no regrets, as he was her friend.

Appearing on Shardul Pandit’s podcast, Uncensored with Shardul, Krissann said, “In India, if you are an actor, you can’t grieve. If your friend has passed away, you are accused of posting for attention. Because you are an actor, people assume you are acting and faking it for the camera. There is no such thing as, ‘Oh, her friend has passed, she must be feeling something.’ There is no way you can win.”

Further, the actress shared that there was a reason why, in a case like Sushant’s—which was a mystery—no one spoke about it, as it came with a risk. She revealed that she risked her career and life, and even her parents were angry with her for speaking about Sushant.

Reacting to accusations of speaking about Sushant for fame, Krissann shared, “No one is so stupid that they would risk their life for fame. There is a reason no one was talking about it—career-wise, a lot of production houses would not want to work with you. And this has happened to me—I was denied work.”

“I lost a lot and gained nothing. I did it for my friend, not for fame. I don’t care what I lose. My friends have called me and told me to shut up, saying, ‘Mat baat karo,'” Krissann added.

Recently, four years after Sushant’s passing, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report, ruling out any foul play and giving a clean chit to his then-girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, who was accused of alleged abetment to suicide in the case.
