Kolkata, known as the cultural capital of India and the “City of Joy”, is now in the news for another identity. According to the TomTom Traffic Index 2024 report, Kolkata has been recorded as the city with the second slowest traffic in the world.

According to the report, it takes an average of 34 minutes and 33 seconds to travel 10 kilometers in Kolkata. The situation is worse in Barranquia city of Colombia, where this time is 36 minutes and 6 seconds.
The average traffic speed in Kolkata is only 14.5 kilometers per hour, which is much lower than Barankia’s speed of 21.6 kilometers per hour.
