This recipe is the pride of Kolhapur, Katwada. Katwada is a famous and popular breakfast in Kolhapur. It is served with potato pieces in spicy chutney. This spicy breakfast is the favorite snack of Kolhapuris. The mixture of crisp and spicy bread with gleaming gravy looks very tasty. It may take some time to make it, but the taste after that will make your heart happy. So let’s know about the material and steps required for this.
Material
- Potatoes – 2 (boiled and tight)
- Lentil dough – 1/2 cup
- Rice flour – 1/4 cup
- Onion – 1 (grated)
- Green Chilli – 2 (grated)
- Ginger-garlic paste-1 teaspoon
- Coriander – a little bit (chopped)
- Oil – to fry
- Baking Soda – 1/2 teaspoon
- Pav Bhaji Masala – 1 teaspoon
- Kashmiri red chili powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon
- salt to taste
- Oil – to cut
- Tomato – 2 (grated)
- Garlic-3-4 buds (grated)
- Cumin seeds powder-1 teaspoon
- salt to taste
Action
- To make Katwada, first mash the boiled potatoes and make potato vada.
- After this, add lentils, rice flour, onion, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste, coriander, baking soda, pav bhaji masala, red chili powder, turmeric and salt.
- Make the shells of the prepared mixture and fry them in hot oil until they become crisp and golden in color.
- Now heat oil in a pan.
- Once the oil is hot, add tomatoes, chopped onions, garlic, cumin seeds, turmeric, salt and water and let it boil well.
- Finally, add chopped green coriander to the prepared curry and turn off the heat.
- Now place the chopped amata in a plate, two vadas and finely chopped sev on it.
- Enjoy the fried vanders by immersing them in the solution.
- It is served with roti or pav.
