While the air is full of the vibes of Mahakumbh 2025, students and faculty from Kohinoor Business School and Kohinoor Management School (KMS) an internationally accredited Management Institute in Mumbai, are gearing up to visit the Mela, to study it from a management perspective.
The Mahakumbh, which is expected to garner a footfall of 450 million attendees, has, over the years, been gaining significance, not just as a religious event, but, more so, as a case study in managerial aspects, due to its sheer magnitude and dynamics of logistics. While researchers from Harvard and Stanford are reported to have come down, to study this year’s Mahakumbh, students and faculty from KBS and KMS had undertaken a research mission of the event even in 2019, where they studied the event from a managerial lens and presented their research findings at varied prestigious forums.
This year too, a 13-member student–faculty team from KBS and KMS will be visiting the Mahakumbh for 7 days, to undertake a research study of the event, while witnessing hands-on management lessons. From an economic lens, the Maha Kumbh Mela is expected to generate financial activity estimated at over ₹3.2 lakh crore spanning sectors like tourism, local businesses, transportation, and branding. Observations related to brands, logistics, AI-powered crowd management systems, sustainable practices and security management will be researched by the team, undoubtedly poised to leave them enlightened and empowered, in every sense of the term.
