Papmochani Ekadashi is one of the most significant Ekadashi, which falls in the Chaitra month (April-May) in Krishna Paksha or waning Moon phase as per the North Indian calendar.

Papmochani Ekadashi is a Hindu festival which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This festival is celebrated on Tuesday, March 25, while the Vaishnava Papmochani Ekadashi falls on Wednesday, March 26. This festival falls between Holika Dahan and Chaitra Navratri, making it the last Ekadashi of the year.

Papmochani Ekadashi: Date and Time

According to the Panchang, the Ekadashi Tithi will begin on Monday, March 25 at 05:05 AM, and it will end on March 26 March at 03:45 AM. The devotees can break their fast on Dwadashi Tithi, and the time to break the fast is from 01:41 PM to 04:08 PM on March 26, 2025.

Muhurat of Papmochani Ekadashi

According to the North Indian Purnimanta calendar, Papmochani, Ekadashi is observed during the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon) of the Chaitra month. However, the festival falls during the Krishna Paksha of the Phalguna month, as per the South Indian Amanta calendar. But, despite the different dates in the calendar, both regions observe the auspicious fast on the same day.

Rituals of Papmochani Ekadashi

Devotees should wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath before the Sunrise. They should wear clean, new clothes. In the ancient Hindu text, the importance of fasting on this Ekadashi is mentioned. According to Hindu beliefs, one who observes fast on this day gets a place in Lord Vishnu’s abode. Devotees should also visit Lord Vishu’s temples and worship him.
