Sanjay Malhotra is all set to take over as the governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He will succeed Shaktikanta Das and is appointed for a tenure of three years. Malhotra is 56-year-old and will serve as the 26th governor of the RBI.

Malhotra is an IITian – he graduated with a computer science degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1989. Following which, he attended Princeton University and did a master’s degree in public policy.

After his educational qualifications, Malhotra also went on to crack the Union Public Service Administration (UPSC CSE) exam in 1990 and joined the Rajasthan cadre. His career span as an IAS officer lasted a long 33 years wherein he worked in several sectors including – mines, information technology, power, banking, and taxation.

Shaktikanta Das – educational qualifications

Shaktikanta Das, the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, has impressive educational qualifications. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and a Master’s degree in History from Delhi University . Additionally, he has received a D.Litt. degree from Utkal University in 2021.

He also holds a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Birmingham
