Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) unveiled their jersey ahead of IPL 2025 as they released a comprehensive video about the same on March 3, Monday. Three stars have been engraved on the shoulder of the franchise’s jersey to signify that they have won three IPL titles thus far.

The Knight Riders, captained by Shreyas Iyer, won their third IPL title in 2024 as they beat the SunRisers Hyderabad convincingly in the final. The Kolkata-based franhise won their first two by defeating the Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab). With the 18th season of the lucrative league set to begin on March 22, the Knight Riders have finally unveiled their kit for the same.

Venkatesh Iyer ready to captain KKR if given the opportunity

With the Knight Riders releasing Shreyas ahead of the auction and yet to appoint a skipper, Venkatesh Iyer has put his hand up to take the role. The 30-year-old spoke about the same in an interview with ESPN Cricinfo:

“Definitely. Definitely, I’m ready. Again, I’ve always said this: captaincy is just a tag. I believe in leadership. That is a bigger role to play, being a leader. You don’t necessarily need the tag of a captain to be a leader in your dressing room. You need to set examples. You need to be a good role model, both on and off the field, which I am doing right now in MP. I’m not the captain of the MP team, but my opinions are respected and I really love to be in an atmosphere where every individual – again, new or experienced, 20 lakhs, 20 crore, whatever – you just need to have the freedom to voice your opinion.”
