Ajinkya rahane kkr captain, ipl 2025 : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have made a big announcement before the start of the Indian Premier League-2025 season. KKR has announced the names of Ajinkya Rahane as the team’s new captain and Venkatesh Iyer as vice-captains.
Rahane became the 9th captain of KKR
Ajinkya Rahane is the 9th captain of KKR in the IPL season and the matches played so far. Prior to him, Sourav Ganguly in 27 matches, Bridan McCullum in 13 matches, Gautam Gambhir in 122 matches, Jax Kallis in two matches, Dinesh Karthik in 37 matches, Ion Morgan in 24 matches, Shreyas Iyer in 29 matches and Nitish Rana has captained 14 matches.
Kolkata bought Rahane for 1.50 crores.
Rahane played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last season of IPL. Franchise released it. In such a situation, Kolkata franchise has bought Rahane at a base price in the mega auction of IPL-2025. Their base value was Rs 1.50 crore.
KKR bought Venkatasan for 23.75 crores
On the other hand, KKR has appointed Venkatesh Iyer as vice -captain. Iyer is constantly playing for the KKR team. However, the franchise released him last season and has now bought him back at the mega auction. Kolkata has spent Rs 23.75 crore to re -purchase Venkatesh. Thus Venkatesh is the most expensive player of the KKR team in the current season.
