News India Live, Digital Desk: The Jharkhand government has launched an important scheme for the first time to solve the major problems of farmers. The main objective of the ‘Kisan Samriddhi Yojana’ launched by the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation is to reduce the irrigation cost of farmers and to help in environmental protection by reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Under this, farmers will be encouraged to use solar energy -powered irrigation systems.
Purpose of the scheme
The scheme will be applicable in all 24 districts of Jharkhand. Its goal is:
- Reduce the cost of farming.
- Reduce pollution by decreasing dependence on diesel-petrol.
- Promoting the use of solar energy -based irrigation systems.
Subsidy given under the scheme
Under this scheme, farmers will give up to 90% grant to farmers on setting up solar irrigation units, while the farmer will have to bear only 10% amount.
Details of irrigation systems
A provision of two types of irrigation units has been made under this scheme:
1. 5 HP surface solar power pumpset based irrigation unit:
- Large water sources such as river, drain, pond, check dam, and large wells will be applicable.
- It is necessary to provide water to these places throughout the year.
2. 2 HP surface solar energy moving irrigation unit:
- Suitable for irrigation of an area of about 1 acre.
- Farmers will be provided a portable unit on trolley for personal use.
Who can take advantage of the scheme?
- Members of farmers group, women self -help groups (registered in JSLPS), FPO, FPC, PACS, and LAMPS can apply.
- The office of the applicant is necessary in the state of Jharkhand.
- The age of a farmer or group member should be more than 18 years.
- Aadhaar card, mobile number and ration cards must be essentially link to Aadhaar.
- Only one member in the family will be eligible.
- Evidence of land and water is mandatory.

- Irrigation possible in any season.
- The moving unit can be transported anywhere in a convenient manner.
- Low cost of maintenance.
With this scheme, farmers will get great relief in the cost of irrigation, as well as significant contribution in environmental protection.
