The troubles for South Korean superstar Kim Soo Hyun continue to mount as the actor might now face a massive penalty due to the cancellation of his upcoming fan meet in Taiwan. It reportedly got cancelled owing to Soo Hyun’s involvement in the controversy surrounding actress Kim Sae-ron’s death.

On Tuesday, the organisers of the fan meet in Taiwan took to their social media handle to announce the cancellation of the event. “We regret to inform you that Kim Soo Hyun will not be able to attend the fan meeting scheduled for March 30 due to scheduling conflicts. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our members,” the statement read.

Reportedly, Soo Hyun might face financial repercussions due to the cancellation and he might now have to pay a hefty penalty, amounting to 30 million Taiwanese dollars, which is roughly around Rs 7.80 crore.

Kim Soo Hyun’s name cropped up in the Kim Sae-ron controversy after a woman, claiming to be the latter’s aunt, alleged that the actress was under deep distress due to constant threats by the Queen of Tears star. Sae-ron’s family members claimed that Soo Hyun dated her when she was just 15 and exploited her, and later, pressurised her to pay back millions of wons, despite knowing that the actress was out of work.

While Soo Hyun’s agency admitted that the actor indeed knew Sae-ron, it rejected the claims that he dated her when she was a minor.

As a result of the controversy, Soo Hyun endured a massive loss as he lost out on some major brand endorsements, and even his upcoming show, Knock Off, has been temporarily halted.
