The Government of India has decided to give Khel Ratna Award to 4 players including Manu Bhakar and D Gukesh. While 32 players have received the Arjun Award. Apart from Manu Bhaker and D Gukesh, hockey player Harmanpreet Singh and para-athlete Praveen Kumar have also been given the Khel Ratna Award. Apart from this, 32 players have received Arjun Award.

Shooter Manu Bhaker, who won two bronze medals for the country in the Paris Olympics, will be honored with the Khel Ratna Award. Along with this, world champion chess player D Gukesh will also be honored with Khel Ratna. Earlier there were reports that Manu Bhaker’s name has not been selected for the Khel Ratna but all those reports have been rejected and now this veteran player is going to get the country’s biggest sports award.

The Sports Ministry today (January 2) announced the National Sports Awards 2024. The award winners will be presented with the award by the President of India at a special ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 17 January 2025 (Friday) at 11 am. Based on the recommendations of the Committee and after due investigation, the Government has decided to award the following players, coaches, universities and institutions.
