Supporters of pro-Khalistani Amritpal Singh and his father Tarsem Singh plan to announce the formation of a new party during the Magh Mela held at Sri Muktsar Sahib on January 14. On this occasion, all the supporters of Amritpal Singh and his father will be present. Tarsem Singh says that this party will give priority to issues like stopping conversion in Punjab, ending drug abuse, and the release of Sikh prisoners.
Objective and agenda of party formation
Speaking to the media, Tarsem Singh clarified the objectives of party formation:
- To stop religious conversion and fight against drug abuse.
- Release of Sikh prisoners.
- Priority to the issues of Punjab.
He said:
“We have formed this party to solve the rights and problems of the people of Punjab.”
Tarsem Singh’s allegation: Fake case against Amritpal Singh
Tarsem Singh claimed that his son Amritpal Singh has been jailed in “fake cases” under the National Security Act (NSA).
- He said:
“Amritpal Singh has been forcibly kept in jail. For now, we will lead the party. After coming out of jail, Amritpal will decide whether he will lead or give a chance to someone else.”
Party name and constitution
- The name and constitution of the party will be decided in the presence of Sikh Sangat at Magh Mela.
- Formation of Working Committee:
- A working committee will be formed to prepare the party’s constitution and decide the agenda.
- Tarsem Singh said:
“Our party will keep the interests of Punjab paramount.”
Amritpal Singh and 2024 Lok Sabha elections
- Amritpal Singh had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat.
- He contested the elections while in jail and his family members and supporters took part in the campaign.
- He won this election, which shows his popularity among his supporters.

- On February 23, 2023:
- Amritpal Singh and his supporters entered the Ajnala police station and created a disturbance.
- They were armed with weapons and had rescued a person from the police station.
