Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) new-ball seamer Khaleel Ahmed caught up with Punjab Kings’ coach Ricky Ponting and his family following the IPL 2025 clash on Wednesday at the Chepauk. The left-arm seamer hugged Ponting’s wife and his kids and later clicked a photo with them as Super Kings released a video of the same.
Khaleel, who is now part of the Super Kings, plied his trade under Ponting as coach for multiple seasons for the Delhi Capitals. The left-arm speedster has delivered promising performances in IPL 2025 throughout and was equally brilliant on Thursday, bagging figures of 3.4-0-28-0 as the Super Kings went down fighting. The 27-year-old had dismissed Priyansh Arya and Suryansh Shedge, making him currently fourth in the purple cap list this year, bagging 14 scalps in ten matches at 22.57.

Chennai Super Kings becomes the first team to be eliminated in IPL 2025
The four-wicket defeat to the Punjab Kings meant that the five-time champions shockingly became the first team to be eliminated from the 18th edition of the IPL. Sam Curran played a whirlwind knock of 88 off 47 deliveries to propel the Super Kings to 190 despite a hat-trick from Yuzvendra Chahal.
However, Shreyas Iyer (72) and Prabhsimran Singh (54) crafted half-centuries of their own to get past the Punjab Kings beyond the home side’s total. Having lost eight matches in the tournament now, the Super Kings only have pride to play for as their playoff hopes are now officially over.
